The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and University of Wollongong (UOW), have jointly established an International Association for Coastal Reservoir Research (IACRR) led by Associate Professor Shu-Qing Yang, which has over 500 members and a world-class reputation. The recent signing of an MOU with the prestigious Institute, ranked 170 (QS World Rankings 2019) and recently selected as one of India’s six Institutes of Eminence (IoE), was fostered through this relationship.
As an Institute of Eminence, IISc has been granted full autonomy by the government and flexibility to enter into collaboration with the top 500 global universities and will receive grant funding of up to ₹1000 crore (AUD$196,000,000) over five years. UOW’s collaboration with IISc spans the School of Civil, Mining and Environmental Engineering, the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute, and the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
Given the Australian Government focus on education as a key field in the growth of India-Australia Relations, this formal partnership is very timely and open for wider cooperation across the Faculty.
