The University of Wollongong’s Research and Innovation Division has selected a project involving SMART Infrastructure Facility’s (SMART’s) Director, Professor Pascal Perez to receive funding as part of the university’s annual UIC International Links Grant Scheme.
A total of $7000 was granted to the project in which Prof. Perez is involved, Impact of severe climate variations on power grid’s resilience and customer-side reliability. This project will use a multi-disciplinary approach to examine electrical equipment models before and after weather events.
Prof. Perez will be collaborating with researchers from the Australian Power Quality and Reliability Centre (APQRC) within UOW’s School of Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering (SECTE) on the project. The team will include Professor Sarath Perera, Dr Ashish Agalgaonkar, Dr David Stirling and Dr Philip Ciufo.
Impact of severe climate variations on power grid’s resilience and customer-side reliability will see the UOW team work with Dr Sarah Dunn from Newcastle University (UK), who will be able to provide insight into a similar study conducted at her university, upon which this UOW project aims to build.
This research project will take place over the course of 2016.
