SMART Infrastructure Facility has welcomed eminent Sri Lankan transport and logistics specialist Dr Amal Kumarage to their research team.

Dr Kumarage, who is a Senior Professor at the Department of Transport and Logistics Management at the University of Moratuwa, has accepted the offer of Honorary Professorial Fellow.

“As Honorary Professor, Prof Kumarage will bring to SMART senior expertise in integrated urban and transport planning in Asia and South East Asia,” said SMART’s Research Director, Professor Pascal Perez.

“He will also actively contribute to the development of high quality training programs.”

Prior to his appointment as Honorary Professorial Fellow, Dr Kumarage had already cultivated a working relationship with the facility’s team, and recently received publicity for an article he co-authored with SMART’s Dr Rohan Wickramasuriya.

This offer follows Dr Kumarage’s time at the University of Wollongong during 2014, when he visited as an Endeavour Executive Fellow.
