The first round of the Australian Research Council’s Linkage Program 2015 grants has seen two successful bids for highly sought-after Federal research grants.

SMART’s Research Director, Pascal Perez, will be involved in one of the funded projects, led by UOW School of Civil Mining and Environmental Engineering’s Long Nghiem. The research group has received $470,000 over four years. According to the project description, “this project aims to develop management approaches to enable the use of anaerobic co-digestion – the conversion of organic wastes and wastewater sludge to biogas for electricity production”.

Demonstrating SMART Infrastructure Facility’s commitment to collaboration and research on a national scale, a member of the academic team is collaborating on a research project headed by Swinburne University of Technology, on Investigating the Dynamics of Digital Inclusion.

SMART’s Jun Ma and UOW School of Education’s Sarah Howard are part of the team which will explore “the effectiveness of digital inclusion interventions in schools”. This project has been awarded a total of $130,000, incrementally allotted between 2015 and 2017.
