UOW signs Memorandum of Understanding with Tianjin University.

A shared interest in materials science has led to a partnership between the University of Wollongong (UOW) and Tianjin University in China.

Led by UOW’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, the partnership focuses on research collaboration and student exchange.

A delegation from Tianjin University, comprising Chairman of Tianjin University Council Professor Li Jiajun, School of Materials Science and Engineering Dean Mr Hu Wenbin, Office of Science and Technology Deputy Director Mr Cui Zhenping and Office of International Cooperation Deputy Director Ms Zhang Zhen, arrived at UOW last Friday (20 April) to formalise the partnership.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by UOW Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Wellings CBE, and Professor Li Jiajun, as well as a formal student exchange agreement.

Following the MoU signing, the delegation attended a meeting to discuss potential collaborations in research, followed by a tour of UOW’s Institute for Superconducting and Electric Materials (ISEM) and the Australian Institute of Innovative Materials (AIIM).

The proposed collaboration involves student exchange opportunities, exchange of information, research opportunities and other activities as agreed by both parties.
