The University of Wollongong has been a partner with Japan’s Gunma University since 2014. As a key component of this partnership, each year Gunma University sends a group of students to UOW College to attend English classes for four weeks.

In 2019, 23 predominantly engineering and physics students participated in the program and were given a special tour of the Faculty’s labs and taken to ANSTO for a guided tour of its nuclear medicine facilities. Talks are underway to deepen and expand the partnership to research collaborations in the area of medical and radiation physics.

13 students and two staff from our School of Physics will visit Gunma later this year in July as part of a New Colombo Plan (NCP) program.
