In October 2013, SMART will throw open its doors to the world-wide infrastructure community as we host the International Symposium for Next Generation Infrastructure Australia, 2013.
The symposium will be the first in a series of symposia that will be followed by further annual symposia in the UK/Europe hosted by University College London, University of Oxford and Delft University of Technology in 2014. In 2015 the symposium will be hosted by Arizona State University in the USA. Plans for the final leg of the series in Asia in 2016 will be finalised shortly.
Professor Paul Wellings, Vice-Chancellor, University of Wollongong, along with SMART CEO Garry Bowditch and ISNGI host partner, Professor Brian Collins, University College London, officially launched the Symposia Series at the Facility on Tuesday 14th May 2013. The event was attended by Councillor Gordon Bradbery OAM, Lord Mayor, Wollongong City Council, Mr Gareth Ward, MP, Member for Kiama, the business community, Senor UOW staff and the media.
This event marks another significant achievement for the Facility and the region as we look forward to welcoming the best and sharpest minds from industry, government and academia to work together to create not only best practice benchmarks but new knowledge to better inform national and jurisdictional-wide infrastructure strategies for long-term prosperity.
