Joint SECTE and SCIT team 1st in Australia & 84/4094 worldwide

IEEEXtreme a 24hour programming and problem solving competition was held on October 20, 2018. This is a competition that puts undergraduate, MRes and PhD students against each other.

Congratulations to Team Semicolon (Duc Thien Bui, Minh Nguyen & Anh Minh Le) second year SECTE/SCIT students from the University of Wollongong for coming first in Australia and 84th in the world out of 4094 teams in this year’s IEEEXtreme competition. This is a remarkable achievement considering that they gave all the other teams a massive 6 hour head start as that had been participating in another competition earlier.

A big thank you to Alanna Vial and the IEEE UOW Student Branch as well as the staff members for organising the local arrangements and supervising the teams during the 24hour period!

IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members – advised and proctored by an IEEE member, and often supported by an IEEE Student Branch – compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming
