The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is one of the top universities in China. Professor Weihua Li invited 10 USTC students to participate in various activities in EIS (Mechatronic) research groups for 10 weeks during the USTC summer vacation. This is the first time for us to run this program. The Faculty, The School of MMM and the EIS International office made a range of activities for the students, including English classes (Dr Madeleine Cincotta provided 9 English learning classes), a touch of research in Mechatronic Engineering with our academics, a party (Professor Weihua Li arranged a party at his home), visits to Sydney and Wollongong (the volunteers of EIS students helped to arrange these visits). The USTC students have enjoyed their time during their stay and will bring these good experiences at UOW to their home university. The feedback from the students is very positive that these students have had a very good impression about the research environment in EIS. Acting International Dean, Associate Professor Christian Ritz gave a speech at farewell. The EIS Executive Dean Professor Chris Cook, the Head of School Professor Gursel Alici, the EIS Executive Manager Mrs Lorelle Pollard, and Professor Weihua Li also met the students at the farewell today.
