Statistical Design and Analysis in Data Science

The Applied Statistics Education and Research Collaboration involving the University of Wollongong, the University of Newcastle and Western Sydney University is presenting a one-day workshop on Statistical Design and Analysis in Data Science. The workshop will consist of a presentation by keynote speaker Distinguished Professor Peter Diggle and talks covering recent developments and trends in statistical methods relevant to data science and analytics. Other speakers include Distinguished Professor Noel Cressie (UOW), Sezim Dzhumasheva (ABS), Dr Virginia Wheway (Thiess), Dr Andrew Zammit Mangion (UOW), Dr Ali Eshragh (UON), Dr Ian Renner (UON), Johnny Keane, (Vodafone) and Summer Wang (ABS).

Peter Diggle is a Distinguished University Professor of Statistics in the Centre for Health Informatics, Computing and Statistics, a teaching and research group within the Lancaster Medical School at Lancaster University working at the interface of statistics, epidemiology and health informatics.  Peter is also Director of Training at Health Data Research UK, working with academic institutions across the UK to draw up a training strategy that builds on existing best practice to create a programme that will transform the careers of future leaders in data science on a national scale.  He holds adjunct positions at Johns Hopkins, Yale and Columbia Universities, and was president of the Royal Statistical Society between July 2014 and December 2016
