A general framework for measuring disclosure of protected micro-level data
The release of micro-level data is extremely useful for the purposes of data analysis. However, such a release often leads to justifiable concerns about the risk of jeapordising the privacy of respondents. In this talk, we introduce our recently developed generalised framework for measuring the disclosure risk of a micro-data released. This framework takes advantage of existing perspectives on disclosure risk measurements to provide a methodology that can be applied to any type of protected data.
In this talk, we demonstrate the ability of this framework to properly account for the variation of disclosure risk between various differential privacy protection levels and then compare this to the disclosure risk of the synthetic data produced by our recently developed high-dimensional data protection technique, the moment-based density generation process. Furthermore, we demonstrate how such a framework can be used to compare and contrast varying protection mechanisms.
