Koori STEM Camp
November 20, 2016 - November 23, 2016

About
The University of Wollongong invites teachers and community members to nominate year 9 or 10 Aboriginal students now.
Aboriginal Year 9 and 10 students from the Illawarra are being given the opportunity to identify with their Aboriginal cultural heritage and its connection to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
Exploring old ways in new times while relating Aboriginal and modern STEM concepts through a unique student-focused program, the Koori STEM Camp will establish stronger senses of Identity, Connection, Pride and Empowerment for participating students.
Students will engage with their cultural heritage and its links to STEM through;
- Boomerangs and Wind turbines
- Storytelling through Digital Media
- Sustainability in the Built Environment
- Renewable Energy and the Natural Environmental
- ..and much more!
How to apply
There are limited places for the November Koori STEM Camp, and therefore only one male and female student nomination from each school will be considered. We ask teachers and parents to also understand that throughout the Koori STEM camp, the support of local community members and organisations aims to encourage student connections beyond their usual cohorts and nourish ongoing Illawarra Aboriginal community relationships.
