Abstract
Nursing is a scientific discipline, has a unique body of knowledge. Standardised nursing terminology and classification systems identify key components of the nursing care process and organize these components into a coherent structure which represents the knowledge of nursing discipline. Standardised nursing terminology and classification systems have been widely used in nursing practice, education, research, and implemented for developing health information systems for planning, documenting, and evaluating nursing care. This presentation will present an introduction to standardised nursing terminology and classification systems, and the current state and challenges associated with using these standardised nursing terminology and classification systems.
Bio
Ms Zhenyu Zhang, BIM, MHlthInfo, MICT, is a PhD candidate at University of Wollongong under the supervision of A/Prof. Ping Yu, Prof. Chao Deng, Dr. Rita Chang, and Dr. Sim Lau. She won the Australian Rotary Health / Eric Abrahams PhD Scholarship in Dementia. She, as a research assistant, has taken part in a number of research studies in the design, adoption, usage and impact of digital technology in health and aged care.
