Engineering Studies Day

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences at the University of Wollongong is once again offering Engineering Studies Days. Year 11 students enrolled in the NSW Engineering subject or any Year 11 ACT students enrolled in engineering or engineering related subjects are offered the opportunity of enhancing their knowledge of and skills in engineering by attending one of the 2019 Engineering Studies Days.
The program is to be made up of two components. These are:
- Laboratory sessions in Materials* Engineering. These sessions are aimed at providing students with material that will help them as they prepare for and sit the Engineering Studies subject in the HSC exam .
- Activities in various other Engineering Departments including Civil, Mining, Environmental, Mechanical, Mechatronic, and Electrical / Computer / Telecommunications Engineering.
*The Materials Engineering activities will prepare students for not only school-based assessments but especially for their written HSC examination paper. The other hands-on activities will give students an understanding of different engineering disciplines.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The Engineering Studies Days are offered to Year 11 students enrolled in the NSW subject Engineering Studies or any Year 11 ACT students enrolled in engineering or engineering related subjects.
WHEN & WHERE
The Engineering Studies Days are on Wednesday 6th November and Thursday 7th November 2019 from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Teachers are required to register for one of the days. The activities are organised by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences and held at the University of Wollongong in Building 4. For more information please view the UOW Campus Map
HOW DO I APPLY?
Each school needs to register for one of the days and provide a list of students attending by Friday 18th October. As a maximum of 150 students will be accepted for each day, schools are encouraged to register only those students who are definitely continuing with Engineering Studies in Year 12.
There is no charge for the days. However, students are to find their own way to and from the University of Wollongong.
Free parking vouchers will be made available to the first 10 cars wishing to park at UOW on each day. Parking is available to mini buses in the western carpark. For transport options and parking on campus, visit www.uow.edu.au/transport.
A free BBQ lunch will be provided for all students and teachers attending.
PLEASE ENSURE covered footwear is worn by students and teachers as an OH&S safety requirement for experiments.
