The Australian Engineering Excellence Awards recognise Australia’s top engineering projects and the engineering teams behind them.
The Engineering and Information Sciences Faculty had three alumni take home awards. Congratulations to:
Grant Chorvat , who studied a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) in 1982, won the Professional Engineer of the Year for Northern Territory. Grant is now Associate Director Energy Systems for Enzen Australia
Stephen Sproul won the Young Professional Engineer of the Year for Queensland and studied a Master of Electrical Power Engineering in 2014. He is now a Senior Engineer for Grid Edge, Energy Storage & Microgrids, Hitachi ABB Power Grids.
Reas Beeston is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for SMEC and studied a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) in 2011. He won Young Professional Engineer of the Year for Sydney.
The national award program first began in 1988 after a decade of celebrating local projects through an Engineers Australia Division. After 32 years the awards were held via online ceremonies for the first time.
