When the Amazon Web Services (AWS) summit hits Canberra this August, it will feature SMART Infrastructure Facility’s IT Architect – and resident smart sensor expert – Dr Matthew Berryman as a keynote speaker.
AWS’s Public Sector summit looks at current best practices and trends in cloud computing, bringing together developers, IT and line of business leaders in a collaborative environment.
A passionate cloud and high performance computing specialist, Dr Berryman will join three other industry experts in opening the one day event.
“My keynote address will cover the PetaJakarta.org project, including our innovative social media, government data, and smart sensor flood mapping,” explained Dr Berryman.
“I will discuss how Amazon Web Services provides us with a stable base on which we can run our platform to provide essential data to residents and emergency management authorities during monsoon-related and other flooding events in Jakarta.”
Sessions across the one day conference will feature public sector organisations sharing their experiences with cloud computing. AWS has selected a number of innovative leaders in this space to present.
“As part of our summit every year we identify a small group of our key customers with a dynamic, forward-thinking approach who are pioneering AWS Cloud in their industry to join AWS on stage as part of our opening keynote,” explained Andrew Phillips, Country Manager, AWS, Public Sector, ANZ.
“UOW was selected for their innovative and industry changing solution they have developed on the AWS platform; we are thrilled UOW can participate in this opening keynote.”
