In May, the National Academy of Sciences (NSA) in Ukraine recently celebrated their 70th anniversary.

To honour this occasion, Professor Elena Pereloma from the Engineering Materials Research Strength at the University of Wollongong, flew to the Kurdjumov Institute of Metal Physics at the NSA and presented both a scientific talk and the keynote address.

Professor Pereloma, a third generation metallurgist, started her academic career at this institution, earning her PhD in 1987. She is now one of the few world-leading female professors in steel research.
