Marten is enrolled in his final year of a Bachelor’s in Mining Engineering at the University of Wollongong. He will travel to Sweden at the end of the year to visit EPIROC’s state of the art R&D facilities, along with a week of mine site tours.During his undergraduate studies, Marten has been an active member of the AusIMM, holding the position of the Illawarra Student Chapter President for a consecutive two years. He has taken the opportunity to build upon his university course work by securing internships in both underground and open cut mines at Glencore. Along with internships, he has developed a global appreciation for the mining industry with a summer research program at the China University of Mining and Technology.
Marten Hunt, one of our 4th year mining students and the President of our AusIMM Student Chapter has won the National EPIROC, (formerly the Atlas-Copco) scholarship.
I am extremely grateful to receive such a longstanding and highly regarded award. The scholarship has been running for over 25 years, providing future professionals a kick-start to their career while enabling the latest technology to be shared among peers, building the industry as a whole.
