This year’s STEM Careers Expo was another great success with more than 50 valued industry partners ranging from Tibra to Google setting up booths and promoting careers in their organisations.
The event, hosted by UOW’s Central Careers Services unit, is designed to promote vacation work opportunities and internships over summer for students in their penultimate year of study in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics degrees.
Many of the industry exhibitors come along to the annual event held in August to promote other job opportunities and programs, including graduate programs, cadetships, entry-level roles and scholarships.
The day was capped off with an inaugural Hackathon where we partnered with our Women in STEM Students Society and companies who had nominated business problems that needed solving. FinoComp, Cardno, Jacobs and FDM each provided students with a number of problems to Hack over three hours and they were very impressed with the solutions the students developed, commending their innovative and teamwork abilities.
