Professor Huijun Li from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences at the University of Wollongong won the Project Leadership Award at the recent Defence Materials Technology Centre Annual Conference.

Professor Li was recognised for his excellence in project leadership for his project titled ‘Evaluation of keyhole TIG welding on high hardness steels’.

DMTC (Defence Materials Technology centre) is a joint venture that brings together defence industry, universities and government research agencies to develop new materials and manufacturing technologies that will enhance Australia’s defence capability.

University of Wollongong has been a key member of DMTC for the last eight years. The DMTC Annual Conference has become a key event in the defence calendar, providing the opportunity to learn about the latest advances in technologies and priority industry capabilities within the DMTC community.

The 2016 DMTC Awards for Excellence were presented at this years’ Annual Conference Dinner at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra. The DMTC Awards for Excellence recognise significant contributions made by individuals and teams that have resulted in successful outcomes for DMTC and its participants.

Huijun Li wins Project Leadership Award
